Conditional Sentences (ประโยคเงื่อนไข)
พูดถึงเรื่องสมมติหรือเงื่อนไข “ถ้า... ก็...”
Type 1 :
มีโอกาสเกิดขึ้นจริงในอนาคต
โครงสร้าง: If + V.1 , will + V.1
If I study , I will pass.
ปัจจุบันคู่กับอนาคต (V.1 คู่ will)
Type 2 :
สมมติเพ้อฝัน / เป็นไปได้ยากในปัจจุบัน
โครงสร้าง: If + V.2 , would + V.1
If I studied , I would pass.
อดีตสมมติ (V.2 คู่ would + V.1)
Type 3 :
อดีตที่ผ่านมาแล้ว แก้ไขไม่ได้
โครงสร้าง: If + had + V.3 , would have + V.3
If I had studied , I would have passed.
อดีตซ้อนอดีต (had V.3 คู่ would have V.3)
ตำแหน่ง If-clause และ Comma (จุดระวังโดนหลอก!)
ถ้า If อยู่หน้า If I study, I will pass.
“ต้องมีคอมม่า ( , )” คั่นกลางเสมอ
ถ้า If อยู่หลัง I will pass if I study.
“ไม่ต้องมีคอมม่า ( , )” ถอดทิ้งได้เลย
2Connectors, Relative Clauses & Reported Speech
คำเชื่อม (and / or / because / because of)
คำเชื่อมบอกความสัมพันธ์ — เชื่อมคำกับคำ เชื่อมทางเลือก และเชื่อมเหตุกับผล
เชื่อมสิ่งที่ไปด้วยกัน ใช้ and
Nok and her cousin are best friends.
ให้เลือกอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง ใช้ or
Is your name Ann or Anya?
บอกเหตุผลด้วย because + ประโยค
I like the job because my colleagues are kind.
because of + คำนามหรือวลี (ไม่ใช่ประโยค)
Mostly because of my colleagues.
because ต้องตามด้วยประธาน + กริยาเสมอ แต่ because of ต้องตามด้วยคำนามหรือวลีสั้นๆ

อนุประโยคขยายคำนาม — เลือก who / which / whose ให้ตรงกับคำที่ขยาย
ขยายคนใช้ who (หรือ that)

ขยายสิ่งของใช้ which (หรือ that)
Rice balls which my grandmother makes
ขยายเจ้าของใช้ whose + คำนาม
the man whose daughter is a vet
ถ้าคำที่ขยายเป็นกรรมของอนุประโยค จะละ who/which ได้
Rice balls (which) my grandmother makes are very popular.
whose ต้องมีคำนามตามหลังเสมอ (whose daughter, whose car) — เห็นช่องว่างที่ตามด้วยคำนามแบบนี้ให้เลือก whose

Reported Speech (เล่าคำพูดของคนอื่น)
เล่าสิ่งที่คนอื่นพูด — ถอย tense ลงหนึ่งขั้น และเปลี่ยนสรรพนามตามคนที่เล่า
tell + คน + what/that + ประโยค
She told me what I should put on my plate.
say + ประโยค (ไม่ต้องมีคนตามหลัง)
She said she would meet you at platform two.
ถอย tense: will → would, can → could, is → was
“I will come.” → She said she would come.
สรรพนามเปลี่ยนตามคนที่พูดและคนที่ฟัง
“I'll help you.” → She said she would help me.
เห็น told ให้ตามด้วยคนก่อนแล้วจึงตามด้วย what/that · ส่วน said ไม่ต้องมีคนตามหลัง ตามด้วยประโยคได้เลย
